A developer has reimplemented the CCSDS space communication protocol stack—standardized by NASA, ESA, JAXA since 1982—in OCaml using typed binary codecs. Traditionally locked in proprietary C libraries, the new implementation includes an interactive browser-based parser that visualizes how messages flow through protocol layers. The work makes these decades-old standards testable and understandable outside closed ground segment frameworks.
