Pentagon wants to water down drone program with autonomous subs

DARPA has launched the Deep Thoughts program to develop compact autonomous underwater vehicles capable of reaching full-ocean depths while being significantly smaller and cheaper than current systems. The program aims to dramatically reduce development time through advances in materials, manufacturing, and structural design, targeting design-to-integration timelines measured in weeks or months rather than years.
