Output isn’t design

Linear's design team argues that AI tools for interface generation miss the fundamental nature of design work. Design is not about producing outputs quickly, but understanding the problem context deeply—human needs, technical constraints, edge cases, and relationships. Good design emerges from carefully resolving mismatches between form and context; tools that generate plausible outputs quickly don't necessarily advance this understanding.
