Anthropic shrugs off VC funding offers valuing it at $800B+, for now

Anthropic has reportedly declined venture capital preemptive funding offers valuing it at $800 billion or more, nearly matching OpenAI's February $110 billion raise at $852 billion valuation. Despite major capital commitments—$50 billion for its own data centers, $30 billion to Microsoft cloud, and billions on AWS—the company appears confident enough to operate independently. Anthropic's reported revenue of $30 billion by end-March 2026, up from $9 billion at year-end 2025, justifies strong secondary market demand and gives CEO Dario Amodei leverage to raise at favorable terms if needed.
